The countdown to the Tandragee 100 has now expired. This event is the Final Shakedown for Richard and his DMRR/Honda Racing Team before the Northwest 200 International Road Races. This is the final preparation and outing for the team machines and Richard is looking forward to putting his new machinery through its paces at the challenging circuit this Saturday. Following on from creditable performances at the Cookstown 100 last week, he explained that if the weather was favourable, he may well be cracking the lap record he set last year in the Open race.

“I am looking forward to riding the big Superbike in the dry for a change” explained the popular Enniskillen man. “I had a good run on the bike at Cookstown in the wet and all but for a simple error on my racing line, could’ve taken the win but I’m well happy with the handling and power of the Honda. The racing should be close and exciting with the likes of Ryan, Archie and Bruce who along with big Martin, always go well around this place. There’s a lot of hungry men about this weekend, but I am one of them as well”

Richard will also be out on the new 600 Supersport Honda for the first time this year.
“This 600 machine handles as well as last years bike. She has similar top end speed but has much more mid-range than the other one. This will definitely make a difference around here and I am looking forward to letting her out the box”

Richard will also be having a first outing in the classic races as well! He is riding Brian Richards’ Manx ‘Tickle’ Norton 500 at Saturday’s races.

“I’ve never ridden the bike before but she is a pedigree with previous wins having been ridden by Bill Swallow among others. I am really looking forward to the experience” said Richard.

“I would also like to thank PJ O'Kane and all the fans for their good wishes and support at Cookstown.” continued Richard. “I hope to see you all again this weekend.
I’d also like to mention my Team boss Des Moore and all the help I receive ‘backstage’ from my mechanics and other friends. They are all a big part of the team effort and we are on the right track for a good season. I will be doing my best, as always, this Saturday and just hope we get the weather for it”

Des Moore, Richard Brittons’ Team DMRR/Honda Racing manager said “I was pleased with the outing Richard had last week and I am really pleased to see that the machinery is up to the task and well worth the investment. I’m just looking forward now to this meeting as it is the final piece of the preparation jigsaw we have before the North West 200.” Des explained “The bikes are well prepared and Richard has shown he has the pace to be up at the front where he deserves to be.”
Des had a final word for the supporters “I would also like to mention the fact that I was overwhelmed by the level of support for Richard and the Team that was shown by the many people who came up to us at the Cookstown event. I was genuinely impressed by the good wishes and enthusiasm of his many fans.”
