UGP Bike Week Report #2

Pic - Derek CleggRichard Britton’s Ulster GP week got of to a terrific start with a very satisfying 2nd place in the Dundrod 150 Superbike race. Richard’s fist time out on the Vitrans Honda saw him in 5th place on lap one but as the race progressed he was soon battling with team mate Martin Finnegan and finally managed to take 2nd place. “I had a good race with Martin and Bruce but I was really struggling to see as my visor was steaming up. I’m very pleased with the bike and really looking forward to Saturday as we seem to have a good setup and little to do in the way of improvements” said Richard.
Richard qualified in 3rd place for Saturday’s Superstock race and is more than happy with the bike. Unfortunately handling problems on the Superbike during Wednesday’s qualifying for the Ulster GP Superbike race only gave Richard a 9th place position on the grid and although Thursday’s practise session saw Richard fastest overall, wet weather conditions made it impossible for any improvement on his times.
Also managing to qualify in 9th place for Saturday’s Supersport 600 race Richard said “We just had the wrong gearing on the 600 but I’m confident that we have a good setup now for Saturday and if I can get off the line I reckon we’ll be up running with the top guys”.
