David Wood Tribute

A Tribute to Davy Woods who died on Tuesday 25th May 2004.
It was with great sadness that we learn of the sudden passing of David G. Wood, Vice President of the Richard Britton Racing Supporters Club. Davy was one of life’s gentlemen who always had time for everyone weather or not, involved with Motorcycling.
I have known Davy for over twenty years through the Sport and I find it very difficult to take in that we will never see him again in and around the paddocks.
Davy had a lot of time for Richard Britton, and without Davys silver tongue and sheer hard work, Richard would never have had the chance to Ride the big Rizla Suzuki at this years North West 200.
On Sunday past May 23rd, I spent some time with Davy in the Rizla Hospitality lounge at Mondello Park where we talked at length, even though Davy was clearly finding this task difficult. He was having his own post North West debate about the big Suzuki and was determined to have it back again next year at the North West.
He was also telling me that he was planning to go to the TT, and it made me think afterwards, just how much passion Davy had for the World of Motorcycling.
It’s not very often in life that we meet the Davy Woods of today, but I am honoured to have known Davy as a colleague, friend, and above all the single biggest inspiration to me in my love of Motorcycle Racing.
Even though it was a very short time, we all in the Supporters Club were delighted when Davy accepted the title of Vice President of the RBRSC. He told us that he was honoured to be part of it and looked forward to hearing all the news as it happened.
From all at the Richard Britton Supporters Club, we send our sincere sympathies to Lee and Davy’s family and friends. The hardest race in Davy’s life is now over, and I know, that he along with Joey, Owen McNally, and Ian King, will be having one hell of a conversation tonight in the biggest paddock in the sky.
Good bye dear friend.
