Three podium third places for Britton

Richard Britton completed three podium third place finishes from three starts on Sunday in a sun drenched Monaghan Road Races over the 2.6 mile Glaslough road circuit.

In hot and sticky conditions, this day, belonged to Dungannons Ryan Farquhar as he blow everyone away by taking a hat trick of race wins in the 250 - 600 - and Open Senior Races.

Back to Britton, and he got a slow start in the first Open Senior Race as Farquhar and Martin Finnegan battled it out for the top two positions. Richard by lap three had settled into third place with Damien Mulleady, Alex Donaldson and Raymond Porter battling it out behind him. At the flag it was Farquhar from Finnegan with Britton +10.755 seconds behind these two.

Starting from the second row in the 600 Supersport Race, Britton again slotted into third place behind race leader Farquhar and Raymond Porter. Farquhar and Porter seemed to have a distinctive power advantage over the rest of the field as they blasted off into the horizon. Richard had Martin Finnegan and Guy Martin behind but Britton had enough in reserve to fend of these pair. Farquhar took the win with Porter second and Britton +12.318 seconds behind in third place.

In the Grand Final over twelve blistering laps of the circuit, Dublin's Martin Finnegan was a start to finish winner over Ryan Farquhar with Britton again third. Britton managed to stay with the leading pair but again settle for a safe third place finish in front of Guy Martin and Alex Donaldson.

"That was not a bad run out before next weekends Ulster Grand Prix said Britton. I was not prepared to stick my neck on the line and through away my Ulster Grand Prix hopes. It’s so easy to make a mistake. Just look at Darren Lindsay who is now out for the rest of the season with a broken wrist. I got a poor start in the first Superbike race and could just not get away with Martin and Ryan. The same could be said of the Grand Final race. In the 600 race, I got away with Ryan and Raymond, but their bikes were just far faster than mine. There was no way I could have stayed with them. I was riding my socks of and getting nowhere. Still, it was a good run and another brilliant meeting and well done to the Monaghan boys for this super event".

Richard travels up to Dundrod on Tuesday morning in preparation for the Ulster Grand Prix bike week.
