Richard Britton and Mark Hamilton missed out on their first ever Daytona win on Saturday when 20 pence worth of fuel robbed the pair of a certain win in the 200 mile Team event.

After crashing heavily in practice on Thursday, Britton regained his composure and along with Hamilton started of in the 30 lap race full of confidence. By mid distance, Hamilton pitted and switched over to Britton on the teams 650 Suzuki and took on fuel.

With four laps to go and still in second place, they were gifted the race lead when the early leaders came to grief. Going onto the last lap, Britton had a six second lead and with only a quarter of the final lap to go, the Suzuki bogged down with fuel starvation. Britton was able to nurse the bike over the line but had to settle for second place yet again.

"That is very frustrating" said Britton. "About 20 pence worth of fuel would have seen us home, but that's racing". Richard has a chance to redeem himself in Tuesdays 600 race.
