Britton's record breaking Production TT
Richard Britton completed a record breaking Production TT race today in the Isle of Man in 6th place, but had the pleasure again of lapping at his fastest ever class speed on the opening lap of this three lap race at 122.40mph from a standing start.
In a race that saw New Zealander Bruce Anstey push the new lap record to 125.30mph, Britton held on in their and rode a very steady race to finish after Mondays disappointment in the 400cc race.
Riding under his usual number eight, Britton was on the charge from the word go and was up into eighth place at the end of lap one lapping the 37 mile circuit at 122.40mph.
Britton increased his position on the road in the second lap before climbing up into 6th place on the final circuit to 6th place, albeit, at the expense of Ryan Farquhar and Martin Finnegan.
"That was one very fast race, said Richard. The only problem that I had was the fact that I rarely saw anyone in front of me for the duration of the race. Its hard to try and ride at your own pace with no-one to judge on, so I guess I thought I was going fast enough. We got a good pit stop but by the middle of lap two, we were catching up on the higher numbered riders which was difficult over the mountain. I just wanted to finish and held on in there. When you look at the calibre of riders and teams in front of me, I suppose you could say that I am quite happy with the result".
