Ultra Lightweight/Lightweight TT

Mondays weather hit Ultra Lightweight/Lightweight TT races turned out to be a bit of a dull affair for Richard Britton as the Fermanagh flyer only lasted a lap and one half in today's Lightweight 400 race after his John Harris Honda cried foul approaching Glen Vine on lap two to leave Britton stranded at the side of the road watching the rest speed past.
In what was hoped would be a podium for the Enniskillen rider, Britton got off to the best possible start by holding second place at Glen Helen on lap one and he kept up his assault on early leader John McGuinness at Ramsey but by the end of lap one it was visible that all was not well with the Harris Honda as he had slipped back to third place behind McGuinness and new second place man Steve Lindsell. "The wee bike was flying on lap one but by the time I got to Hillberry on lap one, I thought she was starting to hold back on herself. She picked up again going down bray Hill on lap two but by the time I reached the Glen Vine section she let go with a bang, throwing the crank right though herself. I am really disappointed to say the least. Even with the bike going off song on lap one, I still managed to do a 109+mph lap. I may not have been able to pull John in but we might have pulled some back on lap two or three after the pit stop" said Richard.
Later in the day, while holding joint seventh place with Adrian Archibald in the Production 1000cc opening lap, it was then Red Flagged on the opening lap after it was reported that visibility had become poor between the Black Dub and Kirk Michael. "I never saw any mist or fog between these two places. In fact, it was perfect. Other riders that I have spoken to said the same. I could not believe it when I was told why it was stopped due to this fact. Its all very strange" said Richard.
The Production 1000 race is now rescheduled for 12 noon on Tuesday 8th June...
