Enniskillen rider Richard Britton not only shaved his target of three seconds of his best lap time at Macau on Thursday, but went two better when the Fermanagh flyer knocked of a full five seconds of his best time in first qualifying to record a fastest lap of 2m33s for the street circuit in Macau.

Britton’s superb lap means that he will start Saturday's race on the second row with Pete Jennings - Ian Lougher - and Stuart Easton.

Michael Rutter continued to dominate and starts in pole with his fastest lap time of 2m 27.83s. John McGuinness - Brian Morrison - and German sensation Barth start on the front row.

" Today was brilliant said Britton. The whole package just came together. Me the bike and my confidence were all in motion and I felt really good. Only for a little blip nearing the end of the session, I could have gone maybe a second faster. But I am well pleased with the way things have turned out" said Richard.

Britton will ride in Saturday’s race on the ETI 1000cc Suzuki as he feels more at home on it.
" I have raced Suzuki's this past two years now and I feel comfortable with the bike. I believe that it is still the tool for the job".

Saturday’s race takes place at 10am Macau time on Saturday, 2am GMT.

Today's weather was 29 degrees air temperature with a 35 degree road temperature. Humidity 68% with clear skies.
