Daytona News

Richard had a very successful time in Daytona last week and he returned home late on Thursday night with a fine second place under his belt.

Richard takes up the story....

"Well, that was a very entertaining few days in Daytona with myself and Mark Hamilton of Irish Bike coming home in second place in the GT Lights endurance race. We had Simon Turner doing all the spanner work for us and we had entered the race on a 650 V-Twin Suzuki. We took second place, 60 seconds behind the winner which was one place better than we finished in last year. Maybe next time we will take the race win.

I also raced a 600 Suzuki in the 600 race at Daytona and after qualifying in 17th place I went about my task. I was running quite well but I had to take to the infield grass sections a couple of times to avoid fallen riders which put me back to 22nd place at the flag. This added with the fact that I ran out of fuel on the last lap did not help my cause but I still enjoyed it all the same. It is so competitive out in the states that a split second misjudgement can relegate you ten places in the blink of an eye. We spent a couple of days in Miami where the temperature was 86 degrees, which I found just a bit to hot, but all in all it was a very good week and one in which I hope to rerun again in February".
